Torsten Fay specializes in GIS including Mobile Mapping, Digital Cartography and remote sensing related projects including Photogrammetry, GIS-Tools and GIS-Applications. He held classes at the University of Muenster, Germany in Geoinformatics and Digital Cartography training ArcGIS10 and was integrated in the implementation process of MS Office-software courses.

Torsten has profound knowledge in collecting, visualizing, managing, creating and analyzing geographical data using GIS-Software such as ArcGIS/ArcPad/gvSIG and preparing, displaying and enhancing digital images for mapping or photogrammetric use in ERDAS Imagine and its LPS.

As part of his activities with CREDP as a regional short term expert for the Easter Caribbean Region, Torsten developed the web-based hydroMinds-Tool for hydrologic modeling and assessing the hydropower potential of streams throughout the Caribbean. Furthermore, he was engaged in other projects in the Caribbean including training staff of the Government of Saint Lucia and Dominica in using GIS technologies as well as collecting and storing geographical information. On several long-term visits he stayed on the islands of Dominica, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
For the project related time in 2013, Torsten joined the EFTAS-Team to support the Integrated Administration and Control System of the European Commission (IACS). The IACS remote sensing control campaign ensures that transactions financed by the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF) are implemented correctly in many federal states in Germany.

Torsten Fay, born in 1987, founded geoMinds in 2010. He studied Geography at the Westfaelische Wilhelms-University of Muenster, Germany, having also worked as a student research assistant for the Institute for Geoinformatics (ifgi) at the same university. After his Bachelor's degree he completed his Master’s Degree at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University Bonn.
